How To Get Your Skippers Ticket:

  1. Make a booking using out easy and secure ONLINE booking system.
  2. Study the student workbook (click here) and use the Online Quiz to ensure you are ready for the theory exam.
  3. Meet up with your trainer at the location you chose and sit the theory exam.
  4. Do the practical assessment with the trainer. That’s it. You’re now a certified skipper!

In order to prepare for your theory exam, all you need to do is study the work material we send to you when you make your booking. The exam consists of 40 questions and you MUST get at least 34 correct to pass. With enough self paced study at home, passing should be a breeze. The practical assessment consisted of 11 different assessed exercises, consisting of 62 individual elements. It may sound daunting, but it really is easy. You will be given ample time to observe your skippers ticket instructor doing these tasks, you’ll have time to learn and practice these tasks in the boat, making sure you are comfortable and confident before being tested.

Proof of identity

You only need to provide ONE full proof of identity document, no other I.D. required

  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Australian Passport
  • Proof of age Card
  • Australian Defence force photographic identity card
  • Federal or Western Australian police officer photographic identity card
  • Marine Certificate of Competency carrying a photograph of the holder

Eye Sight

If you do not hold a valid drivers license or learners permit, you will be required to have an eye sight test done. This  eye test MUST be completed and filled out using the correct Department of Transport form. Non Department of Transport forms will likely be rejected by the department. Medical Declaration

No medical or fitness test is required. The Medical Declaration is a simple self declaration. If you believe you may have a medical condition that could affect your ability to safely and responsibly skipper a boat, a medical examination is required.
